Review: Awakened Knight by Viktoria Karlyle

Releasing February 1st!

5 / 5 Stars!

A quick and enjoyable read! I can’t wait to delve into this world more!

Novellas are always interesting to me, because an author has to set a world, start a romance, and have a quick plot, all often within 100-200 pages! This novella delivers!

It’s a lovely paranormal fantasy romance set in Las Vegas. We follow the vampire knight Roman, as he returns from a fight with unexpected results. Then we meet his human masseuse Jessica, who lives a normal life working hard to take care of her and her grandmother.

They are two people who believe they are meant to be alone, but their attraction is instant. Can a human and a vampire work? Will both of their secrets end things before they even start?

It’s a fast story, but that’s to be expected for what it is. As an introductory to this world, it’s a great start and am looking forward to more!

Thank you to the author for providing the lovely, advanced reader copy before release!

Review: Of Flame and Fang by Jay R Wolf

4.5 / 5 Stars!

A promising start to a new series!

Eva is Hades’ mercenary. A demon from the Undercity who hunts down the worst of the worst. Then one day, she’s really given the worst to hunt down by the Queen of the Undercity, Persephone. She’s not on her own this time though, she must partner with Fenrir, King of the Wolves. Did I mention that she hates werewolves?

As more twists and turns appear, can the two put aside their own dislike for demons and werewolves and work together. The fate of the entire world might depend on it.

Of Flame and Fang follows the perspectives of Eva and Fenrir. They are both flawed characters who sometimes care too much to their own detriment. This book is full of great world building and seems like the tip of the iceberg for the places this series can go. Little romance takes place in this book, but there’s no telling where things will go in the future.

I can’t wait for the next book!

Book blurb from Goodreads:

When Fang and Fire Collide, Love is Born in the Shadows of War.In the gritty heart of a world where darkness and desire dance a dangerous tango, Eva stands as the Undercity’s top-notch mercenary. Their alliance thrusts them into a full-blown smackdown between ancient gods, deadly creatures, and a wolf pack on the brink of destruction. Time’s ticking away, and they’re running a gauntlet in a place where danger lurks around every shadowy corner, and, well, sparks are flying in more ways than one.

Their mission is hunt down Abaddon, the escaped prisoner of the Undercity and anyone responsible. The fate of the whole world is riding on their shoulders. From the blazing pits of the Undercity to the cosmic realm of Olympus, Fenrir and Eva are digging up secrets that could either save humanity or send it spiraling into ruin.

REVIEW: Inked by Rachel Rener

5/5 Stars!

Inked had me hooked from page 1! From the title of chapter 1 (Butt Cobras, yes you read that right) until the end of the book, I couldn’t put it down.

A colorful world full of colorful characters. Talia the Jewish tattoo artist is relatable and hilarious. Zayn, the sexy and mysterious boss, is charming and great with banter. Biscuit just gets better every page. Then there are the interactions between Talia and her mother which are just fantastic! The tripped-out world of faerie is as unique as the magic/blood system that is used in the book. I’m loving every second of this world and can’t wait to continue on in this series!!

Dive into this new world of the fae, make sure that you don’t touch anything, go hunting with the sexiest boss ever, and get a look at some fantastic tattoos!

Book Blurb from author’s website:

When Zayn, your smoking hot boss, tells you never to touch the cache of deluxe tattoo ink locked away in his office, you listen to him… until the day you run out of your own ink, your squirming client is on the verge of peeing his pants, and your boss is nowhere to be found. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

I fully expected Zayn to yell at me when he returned to the shop. What I didn’t expect was the fresh cobra tattoo on my client’s butt magically springing to life. Or the interdimensional filing cabinet hiding in the back of Zayn’s office. And, oh, did I mention that my gorgeous, magic-ink-hoarding boss is actually an incubus?

Now – through (mostly) no fault of my own – we have to venture into a strange and distant land where a never-ending list of lethal flora, fauna, and fae await us. When you add in my Jewish mother’s string of poorly timed, hysterical phone calls, there is one thing I’m grateful for: there’s no cell service in the fae realm.

This book is available on KU which is where I read it. I’m so in love with this even after only reading the first two, that I’ve already pre-ordered the Gilded Blood omnibus that she’s putting out. It’s sooo pretty!
